~~~~ SMILE ~~~~
According to new survey results from the nonpartisan Pew Research Center, Republicans are happier than Democrats, always have been and probably always will be. The survey found 37% of Republicans are "very happy," compared with 25% of Democrats, 9% of Republicans are "not too happy," compared with 20% of Democrats.The partisan happiness gap - unbroken for nearly four decades - has persisted regardless of which party holds the White House.
In country after country, happiness studies find that "conservatives" are happier than "liberals." Pew found that Democrats are more likely to say that success in life is mostly determined by outside forces. Republicans lean toward thinking that success is determined by one's own efforts.
Where do the the Candidates stand on Abortion?
Sarah Palin(R )
*Opposes abortion and believes unborn children should be protected. As Governor of Alaska, supported pro-life legislation.
*“ ….I am pro-life and have never wavered in my belief in the sanctity of every human life.”
Joseph Biden(D )
*Voted to endorse Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court decision that allows abortion for any reason.
* “ I strongly support Roe v.Wade….. That is why I led the fight to defeat Bork. Thank God that he is not in the Court or Roe v. Wade would be gone by now.”
We sent each candidate in each race that we are covering a survey by certified mail and by written verification each candidate received their survey. I have been asked why some candidates did not respond to their surveys and I can not answer that, I guess you would have to ask a candidate why. We are very grateful to each and every candidate that did participate.
My thinking is that if you can not answer a simple survey, to show where you as a candidate stand on certain issues .......
Registering Prisoners
It is unbelievable that in a couple of different states that prisoners in prisons and jails are being registered to vote. Once they are registered they can vote by absentee ballots. It is bad enough that this is happening, but what makes it that much worse is that prison and jail personnel are spending tax payers time to do it.
There is even a county here in North Carolina, that this happened. The sheriff was quoted in a local paper saying that he and his staff had been working for about three weeks to allow people in jail to vote. The Sheriff worked with the head of the county NAACP on this project and the prisoners were allowed to vote today Tuesday(10/21) by absentee ballot. * Just in case if you were wondering, the jail registration total according to the newspaper was 95% Democrat and 5% Republican.
MILITARY POLL
A poll released today by the Military Times of active-duty and retired service men and women shows McCain 68% - Obama 23%.
N.C.Court of Appeals
North Carolina Judicial Races are nonpartisan so you have to do a little work to find out about each candidate. One thing that you may want to know is that setting N.C. Court of Appeals candidate John S. Arrowood, who was appointed to his seat by Gov.Mike Easley in August 2007 is openly gay.You will not find that in the voter guide that the state of North Carolina sends out, but I found it in the Charlotte Observer in a article praising him for being the first openly gay person to hold a statewide office.
Yes, You Will Vote!
It has never been easier to vote than it is today in America. We are blessed to have early voting, one stop registration/voting, Election Day voter transportation, all sorts of ways to make voting more convenient for citizens of this great nation. And it’s free! In my short lifetime, I can remember when, at least in Oklahoma, you had to pay the poll tax in order to vote.
And yet I heard someone say he wasn’t going to vote. That’s right! I couldn’t believe it either. He said he was fed up with all the negative politics and his candidate didn’t win the nomination anyway so he just wasn’t going to vote. Well that man IS going to vote. By not casting a ballot he is voting FOR apathy and AGAINST democracy. Not only that, but obviously there is more than one position up for grabs on the ballot. His non-vote is a tacit approval of every winning candidate.
I’m told that in the mid-term election of 1986, Ronald Reagan’s second term, there were five senate candidates who stood for Christian values who lost by a total of about 57,000 votes. That’s less than 12,000 votes per state in the five states they would have represented in the U.S. Senate. In those five states there were over 5,000,000 Christian voters who just didn’t vote. If only 1%, one out of every 100 of those good Christian folks had voted their values in those elections, conceivably those five senators would have been elected, and there have been a ten vote swing in the United States Senate on numerous critical issues.
Your vote is extremely important in this year’s election. Brave men and women have shed their blood for this privilege. Let’s be wise stewards of this sacred and joyful responsibility.
AMERICA !! Where have we gone?
O beautiful for heroes proved in liberating strife.
Who more than self their country loved and mercy more than life!
America! America!
O beautiful for patriot dream that sees beyond the years
Thine alabaster cities gleam undimmed by human tears!
America! America!
GOD shed his grace on thee and crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!
* GOD, please have mercy on us as a country ! What have we done, where have we gone ? We as Americans have been so blessed by God and what have we done ? We have kicked GOD out of our schools, killed millions and millions of babies, have homosexual marriages, we have no morals anymore and the list goes on!
Please PRAY hard and VOTE !! Take a friend or neighbor with you and vote for people who still do have morals and that share the same values that you do.
